Jeff Knee has been actively involved in visual arts all his life, but especially since his college years at The Savannah College of Art and Design (BFAs in Painting and Photography, 1985). His work has been recognized in art competitions with such esteemed jurors as UF professor Evon Streetman (for the Light Sensitive X, Thomas Center, Gainesville), Pace-MacGill Gallery (NYC) director Peter MacGill (for Toledo Friends of Photography, Ohio), and Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC) associate curator Lowery Sims (for Regional Juried Exhibition, Spartanburg, S.C.). Jeff won 3rd Place in the U.S. National Fine Arts Competition and International Exhibition, 1984, which showed his winning photo at the Florida State Capitol Building in Tallahassee, American Center of Fine Arts in Paris, International Burckhardt Akademie in Rome, and Akademie der Bildenen Kunste in Munich. Most recently, Jeff won First Place for Photography at Melrose Open Air Arts 2009. His work is on display at his home studio, also at Melrose Bay Art Gallery, and South Main Community Arts Center, in Gainesville. Commissions are accepted for portraits in his unique style.
